13-year-old girl detained on suspicion of killing a woman
Following a woman's death inside a home, a 13-year-old girl has been detained on suspicion of murder.
When police arrived at the Swindon home at around 19:00 GMT on Friday following a report of a disturbance, they discovered a woman who was not breathing.
The woman, who lived at the address in Baydon Close, Moredon, and was in her 50s, passed away there. We have notified her next of kin.
According to Wiltshire Police, the 13-year-old girl was later detained for questioning in relation to the incident.
A cordon has been erected at the site while investigations are ongoing, according to a force spokesperson, and no other casualties have been reported.
"This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died," Det. Inspector Darren Ambrose stated.
"We understand that the local community may be concerned about this. Do not hesitate to talk with an officer if you have any concerns.
There will be more police in the neighbourhood, he added, but they are not searching for anyone else in relation to the event.
"We would encourage people not to speculate on the circumstances around this incident," he said.
