After assaulting a school group in Canada and injuring eleven people, a grizzly bear went on the free.
After assaulting a school group in Canada and injuring 11 people, including two gravely, a grizzly bear is now at large.
The event took place on a walking route in the British Columbia province's town of Bella Coola on Thursday afternoon.
While armed authorities search for the animal, residents have been advised to stay inside.
A parent named Veronica Schooner told the Canadian Press that a male instructor "got the whole brunt of it" and that some kids were hit with bear spray while the adults attempted to repel the animal.
Despite not being harmed, Ms. Schooner claimed that her 10-year-old son was a member of the school group.
"He said that bear ran so close to him, but it was going after somebody else," she continued, noting that "he even felt its fur" .
According to British Columbia Emergency Health Services, seven persons were treated on the scene, two were severely injured, and two more were gravely injured, according to the Canadian Press.
The group came from Acwsalcta School, which is approximately 700 kilometres (435 miles) northwest of Vancouver and is administered by the indigenous Nuxalk Nation.
The Nation posted "Officers are armed" on Facebook. "Remain indoors and off the highway."
"At this extremely trying time, it's tough to know what to say. We are incredibly appreciative to our students and team.
Officials from the country have temporarily closed the school while providing counselling services.
